<image:title>Un jour au camp francosurvie - Un jour au camp Francosurvie (video still)</image:title>
<image:caption>(version en français ci-dessous) Un jour au camp Francosurvie is a documentary that follows a group of youths (18-24) during their time at a French language summer camp in Maskwa Manitoba. Images of the Canadian wilderness are juxtaposed with a discussion about growing up bilingual in Western Canada and what that means for them. <image:caption>Penelope, Sculpture detail (wood, cotton thread, found objects), 2013 (Work In progress) for Les 7ième jeux internationale de la francophonie, Nice, France Photo credit: Jacquelyn Hébert Les 7ième jeux internationale de la francophonie, International Sculpture Competition, Acropolis de Nice, Nice France (2013) In 2013, I was invited to be the Sculpture Representative for Team Canada at Les 7ième jeux de la francophonie in Nice, France. For my part in the sculpture competition, I was asked to present a work for a group exhibition in Nice as well as to create a new work in a 5-day competition that was open to the public. My fellow competitors included 20 artists from all over the work. We were judged on both the work we presented in the group exhibition and the new work we created on site. They set up a makeshift studio in a series of conference rooms at the Acropolis of Nice where 20 competitors from each discipline (Sculpture, Painting, and Photo) worked alongside each other. Chatting, making, discussing, seeing each others' ways of creating art. Penelope was created for this competition. I had access only to the tools and materials that were provided to me by the organizers and this was an interesting limitation to have imposed on our creative processes. Interestingly, the stringing of the sculpture became a sort of performance in itself where the public seemed intrigued to ask me questions about what I was doing. This often made for interesting interactions and sharing of ideas.</image:caption>

This work also looks at technology's effect on the making history. Hébert explores this through a juxtaposition of reconfigured found footage from the 1930's and newly created Super 8 films that were inspired by those archival images. These non-linear short narratives are synchronized and edited in such a way that the stories respond to each other and are intended to be projected onto handmade screens. Both films are united by a single overarching soundtrack created from ambient audio gathered while shooting in Manitoba. The Memory Stitch / Point de mémoire explores the spirit of nostalgia, playfulness, and the “re-creation" of memory.  </image:caption>

<image:caption>ATLAS STUDIO 305 Atlas Studio 305 is a creative space in a constant state of transformation. This collective studio space was started in August 2012 by a group of 8 artists living in Montreal, namely: Maude Bernier-Chabot, Emily Jan, David Butler, Jacquelyn Hébert, Sheena Hoszko, Sara Tremblay, Jaquelin Heichert and Agathe Bodineau. Built into a space formerly used as a textile fabrication shop, this series tells the story of the renovation process along with snippets from each of the artists' spaces. <image:title>Pinhole Artists Collective_"Collective Light" publication</image:title>
<image:caption>Collecting Light | Pinhole Artist Collective publication (2013) “Collecting Light” is a collaborative bookwork by members of PAC. In the winter of 2010, members of PAC built approximately one hundred pinhole cameras from 35mm black plastic film canisters. These cameras were then placed around the city and province to take photographs (called solargraphs) over weeks and months. These images were then the basis of a group show at Platform: centre for photographic + digital arts in August 2010. "Collecting Light" expands on this exhibition, incorporating solargraphs, individual visual responses to the project, and critical essays by Dianne Bos and J.J. Kegan McFadden. Contributing members: Marian Butler, Sandra Campbell, Sarah Crawley, William Eakin, lori fontaine, Jacquelyn Hébert, Beth Johnson, Jen Loewen, Natasha Peterson, Merrell-Ann Phare, Bonnie Tulloch Dimensions 10 x 8 inches / 84 pages http://platform121.blogspot.ca/2013_01_01_archive.html</image:caption>
